Question Even less cod in Norway

Yeah well, as you might have read in the the last thread, I had a bad day.
Well, I did it again last thursday.

Same companion, same place, same time.

And same result. Nothing!
While watching uncle pull them out in ones and twos.

Think I need to invest in some new lures or something. Any one got any ideas?

Wonder if it could be clothing that is the problem?
The first succesfull time I was wearing dark clothing. The following times I wore light coloured jacket.

How about the water?
First time it was quite rough, next couple of times it was very still.

So what do you think everyone?

Re: Even less cod in Norway

Sorry to hear about it mate

As you uncle can catch the cod have you looked at the lures and just as important the speed and action the lures are worked

As a lure speed can make a massive difference and also the depth it worked at

just a quick though and the way my luck is going we should team up

Re: Even less cod in Norway

Lures used by both of us are the same type, only difference might have been colours though various ones were tried.
As for depth, Hard for me to tell being only a newbie but I tried pretty much the everything.
Speed and actions were the same too as I was trying to copy his movements. I even tried casting where he was!. I know I was close because I 'caught' his line once. snigger.

Re: Even less cod in Norway

I was 1 month ago in Lofot and i had same thing, but I was the lucky one.
4 guys and i got about 80% of fishes.
Only thing what I was doing different than another was moving the lure all time and when boat was going slowly by wind I was tracking bottom all time with lure, I was also "hammering" bottom with lure.
So it need to work all time no pauses.
When fish it not hungry can very little differens make a lot.

Re: Even less cod in Norway

What is 'hammering'?

Sounds logical but I'm not sure.

Re: Even less cod in Norway

It´s like hit, i`ll think you use hammer to hit nails.
you can feel the bottom, even you have 200m line with 400g lure, hit the lure to bottom about 5-10 times in 10 seconds and keep 5-10 second pause, and same again again again again thousands times and I´m sure that if there is fishes you get some.
tight lines but dont brake them
