new rod to the test

finally got the chance to try out my new 15ft beachcaster. so armed with loads of live rag, black lug, and squid I headed off to the sea wall in new-brighton on friday.

it was a nice tide and the weather wasn't too bad with just a bit of light rain.

the zonsorflex casts really well and had to be careful not to cast down to the knot on my reel. the trade off is it isn't great for bite detection.

3 small plaice and 1 little bass

headed out on saturday for more of the same and dispite trying everything managed to blank. What makes it worse is 2 blokes turned up about an hour after high not knowing a thing about fishing, asked me to show them how to bait up. they managed to cast about 20 yards and within 30 seconds were both in to fish...... they both pulled in very nice looking 3+ lb plaice, ran out of bait and buggered off again!

still, the new rod is nice and casts a mile, shame the fish were only 20 yards out.
