| pure curiosity provoked this fishing trip, as me and dad had no clue what lurks down in the depths of the marina. so i headed off with mum and dad on their shopping trip. me to be dropped off, they shop, then pick me back up. simple. especially as the asda at hartlepool is only a few hundred yards from the marina. on the way there we were predicting the sea state and i said...MODERATE! but as we turned the corner i was proven wrong. the sea was HUGE! dad hadnt seen seaton carew this rough since years back! the waves must have been breaking up to 150 yards out, and well over 8 ft high. so i halted the car and ran out in a north-easterly gale and rain to take a couple of piccys. to be honest, the photos dont do the scene justice. the sound of the waves crashing was booming and the breakers were much bigger than they appear in the photos. i ould have liked to get onto the beach and closer to the sea but we didnt have time.![]() ![]() so we proceeded on to tha marina and i got set up with my little 30 gram weight and a 1/0 hook with a 7 ft 35 gr casting weight spinning rod. there was someone else there with a 13ft beachcaster and a 6 ounce lead with a multiplier on. i felt small lol. but he packed up sayin he lost too much tackle...not surprising really. i chucked it out and lost the lead on the first cast...i thought that it was too risky to fish with bait and such a small lead to i put on a little abu toby and a bit of squid on the end of it and started to chuck out. the marina ![]() ![]() only thing to report is this amazing oily rag which took line lmao. ![]() no points again but with me and dad heading off to the middleton this afternoon to get in some proper fishing and all that swell yesterday and nothing but onshore winds for the past week...im optmistic! ![]() __________________ "Alright Jack, we all ready to fish?" "Yeah!" "Did you bring the rods?" "Errmmm...." |

| Re: Hartlepool Marina - 10/2/07 in the marinas we have around here a great way to fish light is to plumb the depth and then fish a float near enough straight down the wall....fish your bait 1-2 foot off the bottom and use bits of rag etc and you could have a chance of bass, pollack pout etc.... oh and no lost gear __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size |
