Middleton Trip Part Deux- Sunday 22nd October

well this visit was a rather helter skelter ride!
we decided to move location and go to parton beach instead as we were going to be fishing the tide down because of an extended shopping trip making things a tad late.
we got there and there was a nice 6 ft ish swell on with plenty of white water! 3 ppl already there.
i had made a prediction of a whiting first cast to dad a few days earlier and he said "pfff yeh alrite ill believe you" and what happened? 5 minutes in, first cast and the rod tip dances that jiggly shakey whiting dance and i pull in a nice little half pounder!!
nothing really happened apart from the guy next to us gettin a dab and a whitey until the weedfish shoals moved in! the guy next to us pumped in a huge rod bender of kelp, then dad hooked into a big bladderwrack clump and after that, i cast in and left the bale arm off (i think thats what its called on a multiplier) and all of a sudden, the rod tip bent over all shaky-like and the line starts to peel off!! i think im into a bass, because the cast was only about 40 yards into the surf but in 10 seconds i feel a dead weight, and see the biggest clump of seaweed you have ever seen! in fact it was so big, after about 10 minutes of pumping, my line snapped!!!! so i tackled up with the spare abu 7000 and had a chuck out.
nothing happened then until dad asked "wheres the car keys?" my pants filled as i fumbled around in my pocket to no avail! the next hour or so was filled with dad combing the beach and tackling down and me clambering over all the huge rocks above the beach gettin in nooks and crannys, where i peed earlier, thinking they fell out as i climbed. i was sweating so much it was dripping off me and falling like rain onto the rocks until we resignedly decided to walk to dads mates house for rescue.
as we were picking things up to walk off, the bloody car keys fell out of my waterproof!!!!
well we wer tackled down ,so we just went home after a four hour session with the only fish my whitey caught on a single ragworm on a 1/0 hook.
moral of this story: im getting bleedin zippy pockets!

Sounds like an interesting trip! Glad to hear you found the car keys, I think all of us have done that at some point. Well done on the whiting though

Sounds like an interesting sess lol and at least you didn't blank....the moral of the story is......tell ya dad to hold on to his car key himself....that way you won't get the blame for loosing it .....

Re: Middleton Trip Part Deux- Sunday 22nd October

Nice one PP. Sounds like a fun session.

Know what you mean about the key though. I've nearly lost all sorts of bits. Phone, fags, keys. Had to get Pingu to phone my mobile on the beach once so I could find it. Also, lost my mobile while fishing a "Mahoosive" lake in North Devon once and spent 1 1/2 hours trying to find it with my mates phone.

Walk 50 yards. Dial number. Listen. Walk 50 yards. Dial number.....

Still can't believe it didn't run out of battery.

Anyway, the moral is that now keys, fags, wallet, lighter and phone all go into into the front zip pocket of my rucksack at the point when I lock the car. There's a lot to be said for knowing exactly where your keys are!

Rich.
