Lynemouth Beach, Northumberland

Well, had my first PROPER cod session on Saturday night (16th) .Conditions were perfect, no wind, good swell and a crunching wave on the beach. High water was around midnight, so got the buddy up, and lamps burning around 9ish. I had 14 codlings all around the pound mark or maybe a little over (all returned safely). Finished around 1.30am. Busy session! Bait was fresh crab.

Back to the same beach on Sunday afternoon (17th). Conditions just the same, apart from this time I was gonna fish over low water. Started around 3ish and low water was around 7.15pm. Had 3 codlings , again around the pound mark which were returned, a one around 2 and a half pound, and one just over 4lb. Bait - again, fresh crab.

Things are looking really good for the coming season...

Yes mate...this time of year it takes some beating up here...another month before lugworm really takes off...usually as the temperature falls, and also when the whiting shoal up...
