| fishing up-date...north east The rock edges at Marsden are starting to produce a few codling to crab baits. Beefy tackle and rotten bottoms a must along with BIG crab baits. All the local piers are reporting mackerel on some tides to spinners and flies. Rivers and estuaries are still continuing to produce flounders and eels to crab tipped with mackerel baits, although the Tyne is still a little slow. All local beaches will be quiet at this time of year apart from solitary flat fish or a bass if there is a surf running. I tried the Hall beach at Seaham yesterday, and as soon as dusk fell the whiting came on the feed. Some good ones too, to 38cms - all on crab baits. Weed can be a problem this time of year if a sea is running. These early whiting could prove to be the beginning of a very good autumn and winter season this year, lets hope so.. Paul |
