| Beach re-nourishment Hello all A bit of information for any anglers planning on fishing on the Lincolnshire coast, Beach re-nourishment is currently taking place between Sutton on Sea and Trusthorpe point. This is likely to cause a little disruption. But is vital for those of us who live on this coast ![]() |

| Re: Beach re-nourishment Beach re-nourishment in this area is achieved by dredging sand from the Inner dowsing banks, which are situated approx 18 miles off the coast. It is then transported to the required area of coast, and deposited on the beach. It is then levelled by earthmoving equipment to form a barrier between the sea and the sea defences. Unfortunatly most is taken back out to sea in rough weather conditions. This operation has to be repeated every few years, because Lincolnshire is County in the U.K where most of the land is at or below sea level, and prevalent to the risk of flooding from the sea, which has occurred on many occasions over the centuries. Hope this explains the situation, many thanks for your interest. ![]() |

| Re: Beach re-nourishment I've seen a similar operation(sort of). The Army Corp.of Engineers will dredge the Missouri River for barge traffic every few years. Between that, they release larger flows from up-river dams, in the spring and fall. Mostly for grain barges in the fall. ![]() __________________ A bad day fishing is better than a good day working! | Re: Beach re-nourishment Does Jamie Oliver know that they're using sand to nourish the beachs? Probably better than the burgers at Skeggy. |
