went to Middleton pier this morning at 5.15 am spinning for those elusive mackerel,still no sign.

I`m from newton aycliffe,and travel to Hartlepool to fish,been fishing at Hartlepool for the past 40 years............................................. ......and still havent cought anythink!!!!!

LoL, I grew up in the collieries in the 70's/80's, fishing was great off those beaches at Horden, Blackhall and Seaham, great days

Like every where else, the fishing here has dwindled away to next to nothing,I get out on the boats every month from Hartlepool,it`s the only real chance of catching owt.

Oh aye Paul My personal favourite was The Point at Blackhall Rocks, heavy tackle losses, but it was 15 minutes walk from my house. Plenty of places to collect crabs too beforehand. Last time I fished those beaches was in 1989 (when I was 20 )!

...took my 2 boys to Blackhall rocks last summer, they were scrattin' around in the rock pools, and to my astonishment, came back up the beach with around 15 BIG velvet peelers!!! needless to say, I told them I would look after them!!!!!!!!!
