Parton - 18/8/07

Heres hoping turned into a trip! we decided on Parton...with a tide at ten to 7 we arrived at around 3:40 pm and were fishing by 3:45... a little bit of setting the scene photos here...and that pier you see in the distance is the Steetley...this will awaken some images in Rob M's mind if he reads this! the steetley is coming back to life gradually...some good catches coming off it..anyway!

The Beach

High Tide (Steetley in distance)

Usual Setup, Dad takes right i take left

So! our rigs were two hook flappers, dads was one up one down mine was two down...bait was rag and macky or rag tipped with macky. and i brought along some freeze dried ragworms to give em a try...so i had to get a lil freezer bag filled with seawater to soak them in first to let them soften.

And with the boro score 1-0 to fulham as we left...lets just say it was a bit anxious!

But then...first cast...both of us wind in at same time...AND BOTH OF US HAVE FISH! not monsters but its another 1.5 points on the board...Flounder Fantastic! A Beautiful brace of them...mottled with black because of the coal dust...and a light spattering of orange spots because theres a collapsed brick wall near this swim, and small bits of red brick are around

Mine is the bigger one!! and its called Jemima...Dads SMALLER! (ha!) one is called Puddleduck

then it went quiet while the tide came up, but i got a stonking bite and i felt some heavy weight on the end...then as i started winding i felt that release of pressure which means the fish is thinking "Ha! ive just nicked off with your macky!" we debated, dad thinking an ealry codling, im thinking one of these LSD's people are catching more frequently now..because the hunk of mackerel was too big for a flattie

anyway, high tide came and stayed strangely with both me and dad having fun missing plenty of rattling bites, strong as you like...until dad says "meet me at the car", winds in and pulls in a nice little flounder...again!!...2-1 (remember that score)

then i pull in my last cast...8:30pm and we set off home after a nice session...and we remember...this is the FIRST TIME EVER dad has outfished me from the beach! so we were shocked!

then...on the way home...we here on BBC Radio Tees...we hear the overview of the Boro match...one nil we knew about...then..."Mido shoots...awww...OH THE KEEPER FUMBLES!! WHAT A MISTAKE!! ONE ONE!!" we perk up!...then "lee cattermole...lee cattermole shoots...AND SSCCOOORES!!! 2-1 THE BORO!"

so dad beats me 2 -1 and boro beats fulham 2- 1...very happy with that!

didnt blank

nice night!
