| It's only taken a whole month for me to find the news that Ventnor brewery on the Isle of Wight went under in March. I'm going to miss my pint of Ventnor Golden Ale, my favourite pint. Ah well I just hope Goddards doesn't go thud or I'll be really frustrated on the now annual visit to the IOW. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

| Re: Ventnor (IOW) brewery gone under. The brewing business is tough! I work for the Hogs Back Brewery (Surrey) and generally the traditional trade outlets are fraught with uncertainty. Fortunately, we're expanding, exporting to Gran Canaria and Moscow for a start, but its a tough world! Ventors Oyster Stout was pretty good as was Admirals Ale but they've followed in the footsteps of many other micros. The Hampshire Brewery (Romsey) went the same way late last year, truely a shame as their beer was excellent. Goddards produce some excellent ales so hopefully they'll pick up some of Ventors business. But you'll just have to make a detour to Tongham next time you're headed to the Island and try a pint of our TEA (Traditional English Ale) 4.2%. ![]() ![]() __________________ "I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order" Eric Morcambe |
