Re: one mile ban petition

I wont be signing it for the following reasons:
1. It is a very lame petition. just a couple of lines to indicate that it is not very good to fish commercially within 1 mile of the shore. Hardly the sort of petition the government is going to listen to.
2. What about commercial rod and line Bass fishermen. A lot of their fishing is one well within 1 mile of the shore. Do we ruin these peoples livelihood.
3. Charter boat fishing is technically regarded as commercial fishing. need I say more!!
4. Crab and lobster fishing is also carried out within 500m of the shore.

If a proper petition laying down specific types of fishing was put forward then I would be more inclined to sign it. Lets be a little careful what we wish for, as the government are not exactly great themselves, when it comes to defining bans.
