| my introduction Hi Guys I came across this site last night whilst looking for information on Zander fishing. I have been fishing for approx 32 yrs.I started bit bashing on my local canals catching perch and gudgeon before progressing to match fishing for many years and then became more interested in catching bigger fish and so began my specimen hunting career. Carp were my first target and then i got into Pike and have spent the last 20 winters after Pike catching Pike upto 23 lb 13 oz. Over the last 10 yrs my attention turned to double figure Bream and Tench through april to november. I joined a few local fishing syndicates in pursuit of Bream and Tench(staffs, cheshire and shropshire),i have had some great fish from these waters Bream pb 14 lb 9 oz,Tench pb 9 lb 2 oz. I am a member of the Tenchfishers and the Three counties specimen group and run a Tench fishinging syndicate on a mere in cheshire. However i have found myself at a loose end for the winter, having lost my enthusiasm for the piking so i have been having a look at Zander fishing. I have now caught my first Zander in Dec 06 only small at 2 lb 8 oz but impressive enough to have lit my fuse.I have now made a few trips with my mate to the Coventry canal at Grendon and the Birmingham & Fazeley canal at lichfield my mate has had the best at 5 lb 14 oz. Now my interest is turning to having a go on the fens to see if i can get a bigger fish having seen some of the Zander pics in the mags lateley (mark barrets fish 15lb wow what a fish and a 12 from the Nene) so thats how i found my way to this forum whilst looking for info. I do use a few fishing forums ,Tenchfishers, fishingmagic, fishing banter and maggotdrowners all of these are great sources of info but dont compare to your forum for Zander info,i am very impressed with the articles posted on there and the members seem a good bunch too. regards and tight lines robm. ps i hope my username doesnt cause any confusion i use it as my username on my other forums and registered as that on here before i saw Rob M was already being used, sorry Rob M. |
