| how can i fish in germany ??? Hello all well I have just moved to Germany from the UK and trying to settle in here and live but ive yet to learn German (but the girlfriend is German) as I've only been here a few weeks now I seem to hit a few problems with fishing here I used to sea fish only back in the UK so ive never come across a fishing licence before but it seems that I was in Rostock yesterday I thought I will try my luck on the pier there as the locals where catching gars so I thought I would give it a go but some guy near by I think called the local bigwig chief of piers or something like that his called asked me in German for my papers so I played the dumb tourist bit and asked where I get one from but the guy was very unhelpful and made it clear I had to leave with the help of some passing walkers who translated for me what's going but their did not know where to get a license from yes I know you will say go to a local fishing shop and ask but I was in the old east German part where not a lot of people speck German so I had to come back to Berlin but I was wondering if their are any Germans on here who could explained what I need to do as im hearing rumours of I have to sit a test before I can get a license is this right |

| Re: how can i fish in germany ??? hi blue cow welcome to the forum this might be useful for ya blue cow hope it helps Information about angling can usually be obtained from the Tourist Offices (Verkehrsamt). Method of angling varies according to district and season. Spinning is a popular method of trout fishing in Germany, and dapping with grasshopper. In the late summer the purist may be shocked to find the locals fishing with worm. A number of better waters, however, have a fly-only-rule. Authority to fish is dependent upon the angler holding an Angling Permit (Angelschein) obtainable from the “Landratsamt” (rural district council) or at times from the local police on payment of a fee of about 5 – 10 Euro, and also a local Angling Permit which is issued by the owners or lessees of fishing grounds (also hotels etc.) varying from 3 – 8 Euro. Please note that in some some Federal States a UK fishing licence is required to obtain a permit in Germany. German Angling Organisations are members of their parent associations, the “German Anglers’ Association”, Verband Deutscher Sportfischer (VDSF) e.V. Siemensstr. 11-13 63071 Offenbach T. 00 49/69/85 50 06 F. 00 49/69/87 37 70 Email: vdsf.ev@t-online.de Website: www.vdsf.de They will gladly supply foreign anglers with information (please add postal reply-coupon to your letter). tightlines baitmaster ![]() |

Good Luck and have fun ps. if babelfish 1st displays <page cannot be displayed>, try the 'back' button. It looks like there is a test, but it also looks like its valid for life...once you get it. __________________ A bad day fishing is better than a good day working!
