Hi Steveo,

Welcome to the Forum.

Have a look at www.westbaysac.co.uk This is the West Bay Sea Angling Clubs web site. All the information you require is on there.

Regards

Hi Steveo.

I live at the other end of Chesil Beach (Weymouth). You are coming at probably one of the best times of year.
There will still be Mackerel around as well as lots of Garfish with the chance of a good Bass if the weather gets rough. Use a full squid just behind the surf.
West Bay can produce a number of other species including Plaice and Dabs as well as the usual Dogfish and Pout in the evening.
If you are prepared to travel a bit and dont mind a bit of a walk, then go to Cogden which is only about 3 miles down the road. It is fishing well for Sole at the moment and should continue to do so for the next month. You need fairly calm conditions though asnd use small hooks (size 2) and lugworm. The Whiting should be present in decent numbers by the end of the month as well. Use Ragworm tipped with Mackerel for them.
If you fancy a shot at a Cod then come down to the Portland end and fish the oil tanks with large baits. Preferably Lugworm and Squid. There have been quite a few Codling showing already and they normaly come from that end of the beach early in the season.
