Hi Charlotte,
Where abouts on the South West coast are you?
I'm male and live in Brixham if thats a help, my partner comes with me in the summer and does a bit of sunbathing but no fishing.
She has brought in the odd Mackerel but thats as far as she takes it.
Give me or any of the other chaps on here a shout if you need any advise, most of us dont bite.

welcome to the forum, i live in paignton, where are you?
i do A LOT of spinning so i hope i can be of some assistance.
as a matter of fact i went spinning down berry head in brixham today and i picked up a nice mackerel of 1lb 1oz!
i was spinning for pollock just after sunset but they were only interesting in floated ragworm.
i even managed the inexplicable feat of catching a starfish on spinner today!!!!! how did i do that????????????????
i was told that some guy picked up 30 mackies on the morning tide so their numbers are starting to pick up already.

Re: Hello all! im new to sea Fishing :-)

Hi New-2,

You are fortunate enough to live very close to better fishing areas other than Slapton and Beesands etc.

East Portlemouth is literally round the corner from you and is fairly well know for its Bass and Ray fishing. Try Spinning from the rocks (not alone) for Bass and your Mackie and float fish ragworm for Black Bream. In the same area try fishing sand eel on the bottom for Thornback ray and Blonde Ray.

A couple of us will be fishing your neck of the woods later on this summer if you wanna join us.

Kiwi.
