Re: New on the forum There are 3 species of tucunaré that have been stocked in US waters, but there are actually 17 total species, all native to Brasil. __________________ 2012 species: 13 All-time species: 65 New species caught in 2012: white sucker, popeye shiner, white shiner

Re: New on the forum Are they an invasive species? like the pithons in the glades? So you keep track of all the species of fish you have ever caught? Or just the trophy size ones?

Re: New on the forum I keep track of every species and subspecies. 60 so far, with a goal of 200. As for the peacocks in Florida/Hawai'i/Texas, they were stocked by the government to control other nonnatives and have become a popular gamefish in those areas. The reason they make sense is that they're unable to spread farther north than they already are, due to temperature tolerances. They can't handle temperatures under 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 Celsius). I live in the mid-Atlantic, so I have never been that far south. I'll likely need to leave the country to fish for them, it's easier. __________________ 2012 species: 13 All-time species: 65 New species caught in 2012: white sucker, popeye shiner, white shiner
