Unhappy Newbie

Hi All,decided to take the plunge and start fishing,not fished since i was a kid,and i did'nt really know what i was doing. i am going on a fishing holiday in april with some mates. the problem i have is i am a complete begginner and don't know where to start, i don't want to look like a complete tool when we go away.

Hello there,

and welcome to the forum, What type of fishing are you taking up? sea, freshwater, fly etc....
As soon as you reply back i will post the basics you need to know. But everyone one on this forum are very helpfull and there is alot of very exsperienced anglers here to. So no panikoooo!!

Cheers for the quick replies, we will be coarse/freshwater fishing on man made lakes at a place called westwood lakes in Boston Lincolnshire.

The way I look at it is the only way to look a complete tool is to NOT do what you have done. We all started sometime and I can guarantee you that most of us "old hands" have made more embarrassing mistakes and cock ups than you could shake a snapped pole section at. Usually just after we've said "Nah, look I know all about this , watch........". Welcome aboard . Have a look on the web about the venue you are going to, find a local tackle dealer (if you can) and ask away.
