New to the Pool Hello Guys I have been picking up great tips here since being lured back to fishing by a friend who hooked me on Fly Fishing. I have loved all types of fishing since very young but seemed to lose the time as "Life" took over....now I make the time and feel renewed! Still grappling with my casting and the obscene amount of Flies that I "must" have as soon as I start viewing those case full displays but already getting a better idea of things looking through these forums! Many Thanks ![]()

Re: New to the Pool Thanks for the welcome Guys. Had the first outing of 2012 today on Fly here in Kent at Buckland Reserve. Its just recovering after an Algae problem last Year but seems to be picking up well and has recently been restocked again. Its a bit exposed near to the Thames Estuary and not the prettiest place but the chalk lake runs to 30ft deep and seems to encourage a fight! Also noticed the Rainbows seem very long compared to others I have caught so I always over estimate the size on first glimpse...they also have the trick of kicking in with a final massive spurt as they near the bank and seem played out which can catch you out. The fishing depth changed dramatically through the morning but grabbed the first two on a double beaded Peacock Creeper on fast sinking line then changed to an intermediate line when it suddenly blanked and got straight back in with quick hits on a Cormorant neon. Best was in at 3lb plus and good condition...but even nicer to blow the cob webs off! Seen some poor weather forecasting lately but a mate put me on to www.xcweather.co.uk which seems a great help. Cheers!

Re: New to the Pool Isn't it amazing that returning to angling leaves you even more "up for it". Loved it when I was a kid, took a break and now almost at the point of obsession. Welcome! __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk
