| Hello from the Isle of Wight Hello, Names Ben from the Isle of Wight, just started out a copple weeks back and went with the gf's brother and was pritty sweet really enjoyed it (didnt catch anything mind) so i took over my dads gear and went again (yesterday). Both times was peir fishing if you can help some pointers could be good or technics. Not sure what sort of rod i had and not sure what sort of reel i had or hooks, im 100% new to this. So this may sound very basic but if you can help that would be great, had 2 small hooks around 1.0 with fresh rag worm with a weight and was casting out about 15-25ft comming out with half my rag worm still atached would that be the small hooks or am i not leaving it in long enough? Was feeling bites and then reeling in. Cheers Ben |

| Re: Hello from the Isle of Wight Firstly Ben, welcome to the forum. There's lots of members here that will be only too pleased to help in every way they can. There will doubtless be many members who will envy your domain - if I lived there I'd be out fishing every day. If you are fishing off a pier the chances are that there'll be lots of crabs on the bottom and they play hell with your bait. Since you are just beginning, you'd do well to visit the local tackle shops and chat with them about the best places to fish, best rigs, baits etc. I'm pleased that despite catching nowt on your first outing you remain enthusiastic. Stick with it; you'll soon be reelin' 'em in. Kind regards. __________________ Kissin' don't last! Fishin' do. |

| Re: Hello from the Isle of Wight If you look at some of the other threads on this forum you'll see pictures of some really good fish caught from the shore, so don't disregard fishing from beaches, river banks or rocks. Like I said earlier, you need to get chatting to other local anglers who will be able to advise in all aspects of the sport. __________________ Kissin' don't last! Fishin' do. |

Scotties is ok but a bit more expensive than most. Seaview can be a good spot for Bass off the beach mate, and its local to you. __________________ 2011 species: 25 |
