Hi Im Paul and I live in Taunton Somerset

This site seems as good a place to start as any to get some help so here goes.

I love all fishing,sea,boat course,fly. You name it I have tried it.

I have just started beach fishing and have had some success at Hinkley point, well some sucess being 2 cod. one each time i have been. But still a fish is a fish.

I have on my doorstep some fantastic coast it seems but where the hell do I start.

Blue anchor is about half an hour away but where do I need to fish and with what.

Please help as I need it.

welcome to the forum mate .. browse the catch reports as a first port of call and then if you have any specific questions then ask away and im sure they will be answered .
The brizzol channel is a cod gold mine - we are still waiting for a single damn fish so your 2 cod beats me hands down
Fresh lug,peeler crab and black lug - BIG baits on 3/0 pennel rigs should sort you out few more fish per session .
Look on Veals mail order site for a list of venues in the Bristol Channel .

sounds like a good idea........whats a pennel?

oh and where do I get my bait. Is it best to dig my own or can I buy it in local shops. The one near me only has frozen bait?

Well done on the two cod it beats me so far just waiting for the cod to turn up here. As scottish_and _mental says BIG baits on a pennel will do the trick.

A pennel rig is basically two hooks close together on one hook length so that when you use big baits you can have a hook at the top and the bottom of the bait .. thread the bait onto the bottom hook - say half a dozen worms.. then twist the top hook round the line and stick through bait to secure it in place ..
If you can dig worms then you will get better quality and cheaper worms .. failing that frozen mackerel,sandeel or bluey will get you started ...
I'm sure a few of the Devon boys will point you to some local shops
