Crantock fishing please help!

Hello im new to this and hope i have posted this in the right place...

I'm going to Crantock, Cornwall on Thursday and am taking my rods with me, i have looked on Google maps and see that there is rock on both sides of the beach. i was wondering if it was worth fishing from them or if it would it be better to fish from the beach? if off the rocks what side of the beach?
i was also wondering if it fishes better at night time or daytime, high tide or low tide and what baits would be best to use? i was wondering how to fish the river at Crantock as well..

finally what species of fish would i be fishing for (so i know what tackle to take) any help would be fantastic thank you...

Welcome to the forum.

I personally can be of no other help than a warm welcome.
I'm guessing you will get a few pointers from here, but it may be worth a post in your local area section.

You'll find a lot of people and even more help probably.

Re: Crantock fishing please help!

Welcome to the forum ........

Plenty of flatties and bass in the Gannel estuary, rocks on the sides produce ,wrasse ,bass ,pollock and BIG spider crabs

Hardback crab on float gear will do the damage for the wrasse , rag will catch smaller ones too (plenty or hardbacks for bait in the mud banks in the upper Gannel too)

Peeler and worm baits in the estuary as the tide floods is good for the bass and flatties .There are some good mullet there too.

Spinning, lures can be good too for the bass off the rocks ...

I used to live in Newquay ,so know a lil bit , Steve ( Spinner 64) ,will have some good info too i recon

I think there is a slight bit of confusion from the forums southwest and what most people deem to be a southwest fishing mark, it's all a matter of where the boundary starts and stops for each section of coastline. I have posted reports as southwest when it should be in the south section but as yet i,v not felt the wrath of the brilliant mods on here for wrongly posting lol.
Re: Crantock, not fished there for a while but do know a bit about it and i,m in regular contact with a very clued up friend in the area so rather than making a long winded post i will PM my number so you can give me a ring and i was thinking of a trip or two up that way later this week in search of bass or a wee flattie. Probably afternoon/evening sesh!
