Hi.....I'm Dave, new to the forum and I live in Fareham. I've been a river fly fisher most of my life, but I'm mainly a SWFF'er these days. I've been SWFFing for about five years now and I'm completely hooked! I mainly fish for mullet and bass, but would like to try for wrass and pollack when I can find a mark farely local to me.

Hi Chris.......My rod is purpose made for SWFFing. It's quite a powerfull 8 weight and can cope with quite breezy conditions. I don't go out if it's very windy, or if I do I go to a mark that I think would offer shelter from the wind. If the wind is coming from the wrong direction, then I "reverse cast". To carry out this technique you need to face away from the direction you want to cast, your forward cast becomes your back cast and visa versa. Then you release on the final back cast and the line shoots over your shoulder, then you turn and retrieve as normal.

thanks for the explanation, i sometimes use the backcast with lead lobbing, sometimes after i cast foward and the bail arm clicks over, i get a terrific unintentionable back cast.
