| Hi new member introduction Hi all, I am new to this forum and thought I would introduce myself. I live in the Highlands of Scotland (originally from Germany, but with 20 years of residency in Scotland almost a local), an hours drive in my Landy (40 Minutes for others) from the east coast (Moray Firth). I like fishing, hill walking, photography, cooking and brew my own beer (German and Scottish styles). Lately I have ventured into some 'sea fishing expeditions' to Hopeman (harbour), as well as Cummingston and Burghead, fishing all three ventures (spinning and feathering) for Mackerel, but lost most of my tackle on the side wall at Hopeman harbour, over the rocks in Burghead and Cummingston. Never mind, there will be other good days!? I have done sea fishing as a boy from the boat and in general used to do a lot of bait fishing. Now more fly fishing in the little overgrown burns inland where I live now for brown and sea trout. With a short fly rod good and challenging fun. But I would love to do some serious sea fishing, especially beach fishing. One of my aims is to do a bit of fly fishing from the beach for pollack, sea trout, mackerel and bass, but I know very little about what I can expect on the Moray coast. Beach fishing with bait I definitely want to try, especially for flatties and cod later on in the year. Anyway I will post some questions in the forum whether anyone has done some saltwater fly fishing from the beaches at Findhorn Bay the rocky marks at Cummingston etc. what flies and whether they had any luck with mackerel, pollack or dare I say bass. |
