| Re: all the gear and no idear I assume you do the most of your fishing during the day ? ![]() Some beaches fish better at different states of the tide and most fish better at night . using sandeel is good for rays ,plus doggies love them but little else will take them whole so i would stick to the rag baits and perhaps tip it with squid or a sliver of mackerel. peeler crab and black lug aint cheap but are probably the most effective baits for sorting out the bigger fish - especially plaice . Do you know what other species are generally caught from that area ? Targetting specific species can mean less fish but also give you the best chance of hitting into a decent fish if you get everything right. the right bait on the wrong rig will decrease your catch rate just as much as the right area and the wrong bait __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |

| Re: all the gear and no idear Yea most of my fishing is done on the day and i was using a pre made wishbone rig with size 1 hooks ive 2 rods thinking bout targeting the plaice with 1 the what ever else is out there with the other i was trying to get lug worm after seeing loads of people using it with pics and that on the web but went to a few shops and they never had any so had to go with the rag |

A lot of the bigger plaice ( especially offshore ) come on rag tipped with a cube of fish or an inch of black lug . try using a pulley or up and over rig with a bigger bait on one rod and keep the other one set up for smaller species ![]() If you want better results ( not always as again it depends what your targetting ) then try a bigger tide with high water around midnight .. Sadly theres not many boys on here who sea fish around the area other than a bit of spinning and i can only guide you on what i would do to improve my catch rate .. ![]() __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |
