Hi all Hi everyone, I'm Mark, new to the site. Used to do a bit of beach/pier fishing with my dad when younger and not been out in a good few years, that was until last weekend, when i drew a complete blank, apart from a LOT of weed! I live in the portsmouth area and headed to the old haunt of Eastney, the wind was up and no-one was catching anything! Any tips/locations to try out to catch would be appreaciated, to keep the rekindled interest alive!!!! I'm looking to get out this weekend too. I've got a 12ft beach caster and a 10ft spinning rod, some lures. I use mainly flapper rigs with rag or sandeel. Never tried feathers, although have some at hand. Be good to get a bit of updated info, as the old mans tips from way back are probably not too useful today! lol Cheers, looking forward to the advice http://www.fishing-forum.info/images/smilies/ .gifMark

Re: Hi all Welcome along mate.. sadly every where along our part of the coast is weeded to buggery . As for venues it depends when you want to get out and for how long . Places like Hayling Island up by the Inn on the beach are worth a punt during daylight ( its relatively weed free on Hayling ) Gilkicker or Stokes bay at night for a bass, ray or smoothound... Choose the right sized tide - try and fish after dark and get some peelers .. theres shedloads of weed but fortunately theres also plenty big fish about ![]() Read the catch reports from the South coast area - its why we write them Steve __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting

Re: Hi all I've had a look at the catch reports for ideas. what do you calss the right sized tide?? I want to try and get out anytime really, would be eves during the week. I fancy getting out tomorrow, high tide is about 1.30 pm, not ideal for the beach with the weather being so good, but might try Gilkicker. Are there prefered tide states/venues? normally used to only fish the tide coming in and turning, but read on here about low tide fishing...... Cheers for the welcome and the early advice, i hope to be able to post some catches soon!!!!!
