| Re: Beech Fishing - South Coast Hi Dave, if it`s Makeral your after then there are two marks you should consider on the Kent coast that will fish well from the shore.......... 1st mark is Samphire Hoe which is just outside Dover, it is a concrete platform that has been built on top of where the channel tunnel leaves the coast. It is a rocky mark that fishes well for many species, I have personaly caught loads of makeral there, I had a few this year already. It is best fished over high water so you don`t caught up on the rocks............. The 2nd mark is Dungeness, it is a really steep shingle beach which means it is a deep water mark. Even if you can`t cast far the Makeral will be really close in over high water................. I personally would choose samphire hoe because it`s a easier mark to fish and to get to but thats just my opinion...... Some people may suggest fishing on Dover Admiralty pier but I find it an absolute nightmare!!!!! Loads of people up there, crossed lines, arguments, hard work keep pumping fish up a 50 foot wall, loads of foreigners working in teams with substandard gear, english people using unsafe gear ( you don`t want to get clouted around the head by someones lead weight cos there line has not been strong enough). Again just my opinion. Hope this helps Joe __________________ Sea 2012- 5brd rockling, whiting, LS Dogfish,Bass,Eel,Flounder F/W 2012- Catfish(16.5lb), Carp,Tench LITTER IS JUST LAZINESS!! |

| Re: Beech Fishing - South Coast Oh and wherever you go you ideally want a few days of calm winds so the seabed is not being churned up and the water is crystal clear. No point fishing with lures if the fish cant see them eh? ![]() ![]() Tight lines Joe __________________ Sea 2012- 5brd rockling, whiting, LS Dogfish,Bass,Eel,Flounder F/W 2012- Catfish(16.5lb), Carp,Tench LITTER IS JUST LAZINESS!! |

A big thank you for the advice, & will try these areas. When I was alot younger (14 to 18 some 25 years ago) myself & a group of friends used to jump on the post train down to Dover docks & fish the admiralty Pier, we caught loads & yes it was hard work but I remember those days with lots of experienced fisherman & never really had problems maybe we just never looked out or may be we were that bad people stayed away! Thaks again Dave |
