Ayrshire mackerel

Hi Folks

I am new to fishing and I am thinking of taking my kids to Ayr/Troon/Irvine to try for mackerel. Where are the best places to go?

Thanks

Craig

Re: Ayrshire mackerel

never fished the shore there but remember as a nipper going on a charter boat from Girvan area i think ?
great couple of hours and loads of mackerel...
Most harbours will have a boat doing short mackerel trips inshore and its great fun for any age
Otherwise you need deep water i.e a pier or breakwater and float fish thin strips of mackerel for a good chance of a mackerel or pollack .
