what length of rod

hi all,
i am new to angling and i am not sure what length of spinning/lure rod to buy

depends on weight of lures /line breaking strain
i use eight and nine foot ,
u fishing for fresh or sea fish

lol nick you must be loaded i use one of my carp rods or my barble rod,,hows the fishing doing up there any rays in yet

fresh water/lakes.
i use a 13' match rod/4lb breaking strain, but want to try spinning.

not loaded. but i assume a 13' match rod is no good
