Hi i have decided after years away from fishing to return but targeting predator fish. Living near Alvechurch i have rumours of good predator fishing on the canals around the area and wondered if anyone had any info about best places to try, rigs to use and whether i have to pay permits etc ! I will be trying lures, spinners, shads etc maybe even live and dead baiting (If permitted) and again i'll need help with this ! Please help as with a new child time is of a premium so early morning and evening sessions will be the main times i'll be able to get fishing ! ![]()

Re: Predator Beginner seeks help !!!! Thanks Mike ! I'm not too bothered about specimen fish i would be happy taking perch all day !!! I know a few places locally that hold predators but really want to tap into knowledge of other anglers ! I have a question for you .... Is there a close season on canals ?? If it depends what canal the 2 i'm thinking of are the Stratford on avon canal and the Bham Worcester Canal ??

Re: Predator Beginner seeks help !!!! Small jigs, spinners, and spoons, especially tipped with a minnow or worm, will take perch and small zander all day! Then if you find that there are pike you might want to try live/deadbaiting with large fish, or using bigger diving or topwater lures. __________________ 2012 species: 13 All-time species: 65 New species caught in 2012: white sucker, popeye shiner, white shiner
