Re: River Hamble (Botley Mill)

hi mate, the closest i have fished to botley mill is from the upper hamble country park. normally pretty good for school bass, good size eels, mullet and flounder plus the odd sea tout if you are very lucky. hope this helps mate.
matt.

Re: River Hamble (Botley Mill)

i normally use a clear bubble float with a size 6-10 hook and have the bread bait about 1-2 ft below the surface as i normally fish close range from the shore and can watch the mullet feed and take the bait. i use a 10 lb mainline. floating crust will also work. just trial and error, see what works best for you.... groundbait wise i use a mixture of bread, tinned mackeral and sardines (both in oil) and some ammo pilchard oil, it works a treat. sometimes when they are abundant it has had them feeding in a matter of minutes.

Re: River Hamble (Botley Mill)

Mullet, are you blokes bloody crazy:) Nah! only joking. One of the major drawbacks of living about as far as you can get from the sea is that I can't fish for this amazing fish. Tops my list as my favourite sea fish, even ifit drives you mad catching them. Can't help with local knowledge, welcome to the friendlist and most helpful forum on the web. Mullet though....:)
