Well Hello Good Fisherpersons

Sorry about the silly introduction. Fairly new to the forum-forgot I'd joined to be honest so I'd best introduce myself. I live in Altrincham, Cheshire just outside Manchester and have done these last nine years after more than thirty years in London. Retired from a cctv operators job at the end of 2009 and lots of time on my hands to do what I like best-fishing! With fly mostly, but getting out in the fresh air is the most important. I don't get out much though as I have a major problem-I DON'T DRIVE! My wife does, but is disabled and uncomfortable driving me to local waters so I'm hoping someone somewhere who wouldn't mind a partner for the day now and then to take me out with them. I have all the tackle, tie my own flies and promise I'll try not to bore your pants off! If you're the one who can help please e-mail me at-"bydthiel07@yahoo.co.uk" and perhaps we can get together some time soon.? Tight Lines!

Re: Well Hello Good Fisherpersons

Thanks Maddison: I know you mean well, but I've not had a lot of success previously with two local clubs of which I'll only give initials-WAA and BMAA. Spent a lot of money on ludicrously high joining fees plus subscriptions and when I asked if a few of their members could assist me by taking me out to the club waters of which they have many 1. WAA weren't even interested enough to answer my queries and 2. though BMAA posted my appeal on their website yet after eight months not even ONE offer. So I've e-mailed the secretary at A&District AA and explained the situation to him. If they'll help-great-I'd be delighted joining them, but I'm a bit uncertain just now. Thanks for the help, though. Perhaps someone else will be kind enough to help.

That sounds pants, its only a case of dropping you off at a venue which they are going to, its not like your asking to be best friends.
Hope you sort something out

Re: Well Hello Good Fisherpersons

So do I, Maddison-as Altrincham and District are smaller AND Cheaper I'm hoping they're a lot friendlier, too! As you say it's only a matter of taking me there and then taking me back home=or wherever we agree to meet. Tried to find them on the net before I made the mistake of getting involved with BMAA, but didn't realise they were on the bagup website so I'm feeling more optimistic already. Just a shame you don't live nearer as it would be a pleasure to spend a day with you-and I'm sure I'd learn somehting, too. You know I was even a member of the local FDG here-they have meetings every third Tuesday at the local sports club. They have monthly outings and they knew I didn't drive and walked to the meetings and back home yet once more no one ever offered a lift to or from the meetings or for an outing. I learn more on tying flies in magazines and on forums like this, anyway/ I think it's a bit difficult to get friendly with fellows up here if you're not born in the area as a friend of mine is originally from Lancaster and they even treat him like an outsider-and he's a Lancastrian!
