| Hello! and... Help! Hello all, I registered here a while back as I was supposed to get back into a bit of fishing. However, I've booked a weekend away with a couple of extended member of my family in Cornwall for fishing and beers. The only problem is I haven't been fishing for about 10 years or more but make no mistake I went every week almost with my cousin and we were both stocked up and kitted up. I had a very very nice 6 foot shimano river rod that took a quiver tip, used alot when camping in Cambs and a 12ft Carp rod and a "vintage" Mitchell Reel that used to be my Dads and that pretty much was used for everything and did well. Found out that my mother chucked the whole lot out before moving a while back so I literally have to start again. Looking into it, there is a ridiculous amount of stuff on the market now and I don't know where to begin. Can anyone give me some good recommendations for a general purpose reel and rod just to get me started? The guys I'm going with wont be short of a few bits to help out for the weekend, but I want my own gear. Cheers!! S     |

Nah dont work for Ford  I will be doing coarse fishing, I think it's river and lake fishing we have a chalet booked up for Sept although I'm not sure where it is as I didn't book it myself. I'm just going to tag along and pay my money! Primarily I'm going to be doing a bit of float fishing after roach, perch etc and if the mood takes me chuck a trace and a lure on and go for some jack pike which I used to enjoy alot. Can't wait! Been on a few fishing sites and seen some rod/reel combos, I reckon I'm probably going to go for a 10ft rod/reel combo, and I'm undecided as to whether to get a relatively cheap 6ft rod and reel combo for sneaking up on small river swims.... What do you reckon? |

| Re: Hello! and... Help! Welcome to the forum mate. What sort of budget are you looking at ? This will give people a better idea as to what to recommend , as a starting point.
