Re: please help

Guess your looking at deep water rock marks for eels and huss or it's the clean sand for Rays mate ..
There are a few lads on here who fish that area so i'm sure some local advice will be added.. Hopes nose is the only place ive actually heard ( and thats probably in Ireland lol ) of so other than than that im afraid i cant help much

Talking Re: please help

what rigs are you using fella ? and are you using a fixed spool or fast retrieve multi ?
I've never fished the mark but i guess i would approach it as if i were fishing Portland
Try keeping the main rig as simple as possible - use a pulley rig or even a lead lift if need be... a 'rotten bottom' will help prevent lead loss as will using a reel such as a sl20sh designed for rough ground work ..
bait wise , you're probably not far off the mark but i guess presentation is more vital along with fishing the right tide at the right time of year ...
It's a total bummer that you don't have wheels mate - if your lucky you might just hit the jackpot and hook up with one of the other lads on here ..
its worth asking in the going fishing/south section
I will do some digging in the meantime and see what the 'target species' are in your area at this time of year and see if i can suggest any ways to help you out
Steve

Re: please help

Hi Davo,

Ping and myself don't tend to fish Torbay too often, but when we have we've fished places like Odicombe and Brixham Breakwater with mixed amount of success. Then there's always the nose and Berry head and I understand Princess peir throws up a good few species if nothing massive.

Sounds to me like you're doing most things right, though I'd *maybe* drop the hook size down a touch. I use 3/0 and 4/0's for Bass. Other than that, keep doing what you're doing.. Something will turn up.

Maybe a PM to Wellyfish, Kiwi or DevonDave could be helpful?

Re: please help

try meadfoot beach on a night tide fish from the ramp or steps and fish in the shadow from the wall casued by the street lights so no more than 10 ft out the bass move up and down there close in and will take live bait or sand eels, also same tactic with a big lump of squid will catch huss there also

tight lines
