I have had 15 years away from angling but woke up yesterday for some reason wanting to go fishing again....

So my teenage nephew and I visited Ulverston Canal for 4 hours and I loved it!!!

My fishing genes were again belatedly activated (started angling at age 7) 45 now).

I had a few slow bites but never managed to hook them probably because I was using a 20 hook but my nephew netted a 8oz Perch so the session wasn't totally barren....

Ulverston canal has always been a good water in all its many swims but at this visit the whole 1.25 mile of it is almost totally weed infested...!!!

I think now that I will be doing quite a bit of fishing until the main crap winter weather sets in as being frozen doesnt appeal to me that much as I'm getting old!!!!!!!!!

The local Rezza - fished many many times with not even a nibble - has been booked for next Saturday!

The above is not that accurate actually as I did manage to hook an animal - 'a dog' - that was passing by my peg as I was pike fishing it stepped on my plugs 2x triple hooks and I had to operate and free the lure from it's paw!!!

The Rezza: If u are baited up and fishing for 'old push bikes' and 'shopping trolleys' then you'll be very busy!!!

Question: Are those £25 quid ish fishing gas heaters any good???

Hello mate, welcome to the forum.
I've just bought a gas heater, i think it might be the same type your talking about,they take a gas cannister not unlike an aerosol can. Anyway mines was brand new and to be honest it's going back as it appears to be junk and i would say verging on dangerous.
