| green horn on deck Hi all Im Rob and im about as new to fishing as you can get ![]() i fished once about 10 years ago on a day out sea fishing (drop over the side job so didnt even tie the hook on myself lol) but now im living down by the sea (near Bridport Dorset) i have decided to take up sea fishing ![]() with this in mind i went into my local tackle shop in west bay today and got my self some gear (early birthday pressy thanks mrs )so im now £100 lighter and own a rod,reel some feathers and lines etc all i need to do now is figure how to tie lines together (guy in the shop showed me so its practice time) and read up on what i can expect to catch besides a cold and what to use to catch what ever fish there happens to be around here (so from portland to lyme regis area) o and my user name is due to my dog who will be my fishing companion on nice days Thanks all Rob ps ill try to not ask too many silly questions ![]() |

| Hi maxtherotti, Im jim (jimllfixit) Ive only been fishing for three months myself. Welcome its nice to know other newbies out there. Dont worry about stupid questions thats my game lol. I sat on the beach every weekend for 5 weeks not a scratch, asked a few questions got a quick lesson in casting and hey presto Ive not done to bad so far. Still a long way to go. | Re: green horn on deck hi Rob,Good luck with the knots try to get hold of a book called Bait and Rigs by the Sea anglers magazine. I found it usefull and have just started making my own rigs. Strangley though when I started the guy in mannions on Hayling suggested a 12' beach rod and reel some rag worm and off I went, shame he forgot about the stand and leader. ![]() |

O great ill defo keep my eye open for that (any chance of a pm too?? Chesil is only 15 mins away from me here so that would be mint, have been tying knots from main line to shock leader all afternoon and think its at a point where it works even if its not too great to look at And Jim your into caravan rolling?? i work on a touring site and there are plenty of rocking vans lololol |
