Smile New to this

Hi,

I'm new to fly fishing, I've been a couple of times but that was years ago. I recently took my son bait fishing and that inspired me to look out my old dads fly gear. I don't really know to much about it so any advice would be more than welcome. I'm going to a local trout fishery, however i don't know my buzzers from my Kate McLarens

Any help greatly welcomed.

Hi MD, Welcome to the forum. If you haven`t fly fished before, I think your best bet, is to have a couple of casting lessons first, it`s well worth it. As to flies, have a word with your local tackle dealer, chances are he has a good idea what flies sell best locally. Lures always do well. crazy names like zonkers, dancers, humungus, damsel nymphs, cat`s whiskers, ace of spades, gold heads, the list is endless, but the ones I`ve mentioned seem to be good catchers on a lot of fisheries. Try and have a word with someone who fishes there and ask for advice. I hope this has been of some help, good luck on you day out.

Peter
