Talking Fishing Holiday!

Hi All!

Found some useful information on these forums so thought I'd sign up.

I'm 25, living in Canberra, Australia.
I try to get out as much as possible to get some fish, even if it's a few redfin/carp at the local lakes.

I prefer salt water fishing, got a boat down the south coast of Aus that is great for the salt water/open lakes.
Favourite fish are Flathead and Snapper!

I'm about to head over to the UK and Europe for 3 months, pure holiday.
Hoping to get as much fishing in as possible.
I've asked a question about Blenheim palace in another existing thread, but will be doing plenty more fishing throughout the UK.

Taking 2 rods and reels.
6' St Croix, 4-8lb rod with a Shimano Rarenium Ci4 2500 (Stradic Ci4) spooled with 8lb braid.
Second setup is for bigger fish:
8' Shimano Exage, 10-20lb rod with a Shimano Sustain 4000, spooled with 15lb braid.

Mostly aiming for Pike while in the UK, then off to Norway for a month and keen to bag some Halibut, Cod, etc... :)

Cheers,

Grundy

Would love to go out on a charter where ever I can, but last time I took the wife out game fishing for massive Tuna/Marlin, she was spewing over the side for 6 hours straight... , so that's not an option at the moment.
Weymouth isnt too far if you end up on the south coast for a few days and the fishing can be superb on the inshore charter boats - you could even take the better half out on one of the evening mackerel trips which usually only last about 2 hours but great fun - probably not your cup of tea but worth the extra lovin lol

with regards to species etc , if you plan a trip out somewhere and post a few days before hand i'm sure the boys and girls will be able to guide you through bait, techniques and telll you what those "funny lookin fish" are

Don't forget your camera and keep us informed how you get on
Steve

Re: Fishing Holiday!

Thanks Steve,

I'll definitely be around as I make my way through the UK.
Unfortunately we're heading north from Oxford and will miss the south coast.
Eventually getting as far north as Tromso in Norway!

Of course once I return home I'd be happy to show any visitors the local fishing spots in Aus too!
