TENCH FISHING...and I need advice!! Having reached 70 years old and have just renewed my interest in fishing. I live in Brittany France and just up the road there is a beautiful lake that no one fishs and it contains TENCH....and I have seen some very LARGE ONES. My problem is how to 'arrange' a good ledger system to coup with weed? This weed is not to invasive, the lake is what is known in France as Cat.2 which meens I cannot rake out a strip (the lake must stay 'as is'). The really good news is no one uses the lake, the fish seem completely uncorcerned about me being around. I need to link up with someone who knows a thing or two about tench fishing in weed. I would really appreciated some advice..... Andrew Kennedy +297512950 or e-mail a.kennedy@aliceadsl.fr.

Re: TENCH FISHING...and I need advice!! Keep piling lots of particles in the lake , when the fish get their heads down on it they will soon clear some area,s Then fish a light lead into the weed ,with a 10 mm popped up bait , place this in a small mesh bag with a few freebies and cast out ,, put a pva nugget on to the hook as this will help the bait to rest on the weed and will also give indication to where the bait ./hook is ,when the nugget floats to the surface for fishing in weed i find that a scattered bait pattern works best dont let the weed worry you , it is the fishes natural environment

Re: TENCH FISHING...and I need advice!! Thats just great, many thanks I can see what you are getting at, however a little needs explaining if you have the time. I am fishing with sweet corn and using well soaked corn as ground bait - I presume you are suggesting 'lobing' in a handful or so into the same area over a period and the fish will clear that area for me? What do you mean by a 'poped up bait'? What is a pva nugget? When you say ' a scattered bait pattern works for you' how large a pattern round the area that is to be fished? Apreaciate your trouble in replying and look forward to the next instalment!!!! a.kennedy@aliceadsl.fr Just as back ground for you, I have been up to the lake a dozen time and landed a 5lber and have seen much larger ones in the margins, I am sure that if I get it right I am in for a good fish and a few tight lines.

http://www.baitfeedonline.co.uk/acat...se_Tackle.html you can buy boilies that pop up /float is a bait that is off the bottom by a few inches i normally place a bb shot behind the hook on the hook link. pop up rig Scattered bait pattern is to for eg spread the bait over a 10 x10 ft area and fish either in the middle of it ,or just on the edge of it NUGGETS |

Re: TENCH FISHING...and I need advice!! Sincere thanks for your last -email! I've just returned from a visit to our local, and very well stocked out, fishing shop and together with your advice I have purchased all I need at the moment to make my fishing efforts a little more 'professional'. Just a couple of other questions.......I would like to know if the lake I am on contains carp......I have thrown out floating crust but with no obvious signs of carp noises, the locals would'nt know any information, any suggestions as to find out? Also. I have read up about Tench bite, using pop-ups with just 10mm from ledger weight to hook and bearing in mind the way Tench feed, would you suggest striking on any 'switch' and wait for a run? Look forward to hearing back from you. I have visited your site and will be using it in the future I am sure. Regards Andrew a.kennedy@aliceadsl.fr
