Hi! (need information about fishing areas) Hello! My name is Marie and I'm French. I've not registered here because I like fishing but because I've got a friend who's fond of fishing. With some other friends, we're planning to come by car to the South/ Mid - West of England in July. My friend (who loves fishing) is coming with us in order to go fishing while we're visiting the area. I'd like to know if he needs a fishing licence. We're planning to go first to Lyme Regis, then to Bristol and Bath area. So he'll probably fish in salty waters, right? I've read on the Internet that in England you don't need a fishing licence if you fish in salty and sea waters. Can someone confirm that, please? Does he need a licence to go fishing on Lyme Regis seashores or not? What about Bristol and the coast near Bristol? Thanks for any reply. I'm so sorry to bother you with these questions, and especially with the fact that I've registered here while I'm not really fond of fishing. ![]() Thanks anyway. Bye. Marie

Re: Hi! (need information about fishing areas) Hi Marie - dont be ashamed about being a closet angler ![]() you DO NOT need a license to fish in the sea and you are heading to an area full of great fishing spots ! Lyme Bay has plenty of good clean shingle beaches to fish from and chesil beach at around 18 miles long is full of anglers in July as the massive shoals of mackerel are there ... Bristol channel has the second biggest tides in the world so isnt really for beginners but is full of fish __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting

Re: Hi! (need information about fishing areas) Thank you so much Scottish and Metal! I'll tell him that there are great spots near Lyme Regis and to be careful about the tides in Bristol channel! He's not a beginner but I think he has mainly been fishing in rivers although he lives near the Channel, near Calais. He'll be happy to know there are good spots in the South of England. ![]() Thanks a lot.
