I've only ever done course gushing using rod and poles, mostly on my local canal

Hi Gavin, welcome to an excellent forum, I take it that`s the Forth and Clyde canal? Where abouts on the canal?. I often fish it when the rivers are unfishable, the Partick basin, Dalmuir/Bowling, Kirkie and Torrance. best fish a 3.1/2lb jack pike and a 1lb 3oz perch. Still a novice at coarse fishing though
