| Hi Folks! I thought I'd better introduce myself. I've lived on Anglesey for 15 years and I'm newly retired. Anglesey AA permit holder and I also do some sea fishing - well with 125 miles of coastline you can't not fish, can you. Having said that, I only came back to fishing 1 1/2 years ago and I'm still picking up the knack again. Was the fishing here much better in the 70s or is that just rose-tinted hindsight. Many things have changed in thirty years, not least the dire situation of eels (Anguilla anguilla). They used to be so common it was difficult to avoid them. Some of the lakes I used to fish have had many introductions and it should be interesting to see how that has knocked on to the numbers and sizes of other fish species. I must say that even though tackle has changed alot in some areas I still get my biggest kick out of catching fish on simple gear I've made myself, whether it's a float made from crow's quill or a bamboo rod-tip replacement: it all adds to the enjoyment and feelings of accomplishment. Tight lines everyone. |
