Welcome to the forum. Same for the shore, wouldnt let on about tips, i dont do match fishing anymore and i am revealing all the secrets because i know what its like mate. You say pole so its coarse fishing cant help mate ive never done it but there are plenty of very good coarse anglers on forum and i mean very good so your in good hands. Remember anglers dont like telling anyone all there secrets and you have to respect them for that but im sure they will give you a few. Paul

Re: newbie

hi welcome, new here myself but the guys/gals make you feel very welcome...pole fishing the margins i suppose it all depends on your venues, fish you are targeting.. pegs drawn... wether they are weedy or a nice bank there. my fist match this year is a week on saturday and i know the margins there are very shallow down to about 18 inches in parts depending on peg drawn. i feed three lines one out to island one centre then feed into margins if i draw one paticular peg its banks up so i would place my bait up onto the bank probably about 10 inches beneath, the surface and the fish swim up to take the bait laid on the muddy bottom. if there is a feature like rushes or similar i feed to the feature with a toss pot and fish the same spot all the time. I always beef up and use a 6 lb bottom/and a small float i even use them tiny poly balls to handle nice tench and big carp this works for me at this paticular venue...you watch ill blank next week lol
