Pompey Fishing.

Hi All, I have just joined this Forum as it seems to be a very good source for Info. Have Fished for about 8 months and can say i really do enjoy it however i still dont seem to be catching??? i have read the books and used all the tricks but really haven't had much in the way of results? Is it just slack at the moment or am i just destined to be a fish feeder lol

If anyone has any pointers or advice it would be invaluable. I am not affraid of the weather and was even hanging off the end of South Parade Pier till 4am this morning!! (No Results)

thanks For Reading.

Re: Pompey Fishing.

Welcome to the forum.

It's not just you, January and February are the dead months for fishing. The water temperature is very cold and things slow down. Come mid February and March the plaice start to show on your patch but they are few and far between these days. A bit of a challenge though!

Re: Pompey Fishing.

Yea don't worry at all mate. This time of year is bloody awfull, especially for us solent anglers.
Give it untill mid Feb and it will be worth a go targeting the Plaice down Eastney although they are few and far between.
The harbours are always worth a bash, ive had Bass right through the year in the harbours.
Good luck.

I fished the pier a while back and had a few dogs off the end on squid and sandeel plus a million small pollack from under the legs on ragworm or live shrimps/prawns that we netted from the lake across the road tho i cant say i can encourage that lol
Look for two dodgy chinese guys next time you're there at 4am and tell them i said hi ,
Steve
