New Boy please be gentle

Hi All

I'm jamie from birmingham and a complete novice when it comes to fishing, hence joining here.

I have recently been given 4 old rods by a friend of a friend who unfortunately hasn't told me what type of fishing each rod is for. Is there a font of all knowledge on here that maybe able to tell me which type of fishing which rod is for as i can't get back in touch with the guy who gave me the rods?

So for the long winded question on my first post.

Re: New Boy please be gentle

Thanks Cuckoo and Nick i've got the following rods / poles:

Leeda blue diamond stick 3.9m
Zebco tech cool match 3.6m (looks brand new)
Conlon 800 overlite multitip 8100
can't make out a name on the 4th but looks very similar to the leeda

As i said i'm a complete novice so i'm trying to work out if these are worth keeping or should i just go out and get new rods and reels as opposed to just new reels.

Any help is appreciated guys and gals.

All for coarse fishing mate , worth keeping as they were free and it will give you something to learn with

the blue diamond is from a range of tackle brought out by leeda

Re: New Boy please be gentle

Thanks all.

So this stuff all looks like it's suitable for coarse fishing? if so that's great and i'm off out to get some reels at the weekend.

Can anyone recommend 1 or 2 cheapish starter reels? or should i just ask at the shop.
