Hello, novice looking for advice

Signed up looking for some advice on using lures.

I have fished in the Med before and will be going to Ibiza on Saturday. I have purchased a couple of lures, one which is a surface lure and one which is a deep lure.

Sorry if these sound like stupid questions but here goes. Is a float require when using a lure and is it necessary to place any weights on the line when using a lure? Or is it just a case of attach the lure to the line and away you go?

Also, does anybody have any tips on the best bait to use in the Med? When using bread all the small fish just seem to nibble it off! Any way around this happening?

Any help/tips very much appreciated.

HI, no weights are required when using lures just attach to your line then cast and retrieve them. you can try retrieving them at different speeds to get a reaction from the fish. i did a little bit of fishing in ibiza and i made a paste out of bread and moulded it round the hook, the smaller fish struggled to nibble it off that way.

hi mate. depends what type of fishing, sea or fresh.
and sometimes you may need to use a running ledger rig with lure if there to light only a very light wieght ( 1oz) and a very long trace for the lure.
by the bread thing it sounds freshwater, but i use bread in the sea and have caught 4 different species on it.

fresh. well spinners or plugs for pike and bass. or i you fancy some bait fishing bread, but mainly smaller spies go fo that. if you use say a wole sprat or small perch as live bait
