Newbie Needs some Advice

Hello to everyone, not having fished for nearly 10 years now and my boy is at the age where he would llove to learn for which i glad. Having spent some money on second hand kit. Will be fishing on rod and reel a little set in my ways for pole at the moment. but completely stuck has to what line to put on my four reels what baits to use, will be fishing mainly calm waters, what would be the best size rod to strt him off he's aged 9. Any help or advice would br greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the site. For line depends on what fish ur after if ur going to fish canals use 3lb or 4lb line. Lakes use 4lb for silver fish on float road. 6lb for ledgering 8lb or 10lb+ for carp fishing. Bait depends on where u fish maggots, worms, sweetcorn, luncenmeat pellets and bread work well for most fish and places. 12ft rods are the most common size.
