Hello

Hi,

My first post and visit to the forum.

I'm wanting to get into fishing. No idea what type of fishing i'd like to do so i'm open to suggestions.

No idea what gear to buy either. Dont want to spend a lot just in case I dont continue with it, so ideas on what a newbie should get to start with would be appreciated :)

Re: Hello

Hi Tomba. And welcome to the forum.
Ref can't make make your mind up as to what Species. Find an angling book and read up on it and also go to a few lakes and watch anglers fishing and have a chat with them, and even join an angling club. But don't go out and bye anything just yet until you are sure in your own mind what species that you wish to catch.

Cheers Jimbo.

I'm in Dumbarton so i'm close to fresh water and sea water lochs (Loch Lomond, Loch Fyne, Loch Long, etc). We've also got the Leven for freshwater river fishing.

Any idea of a good starter book?

Re: Hello

Welcome to the worlds biggest and best sport mate.

Where you live the worlds your oyster as you can go fly fishing on the lochs and rivers, pike fishing on the lochs and even a short trip across to the west coast for some amazing sea fishing off the rocks in both summer and winter.

I dont know about local fresh water cubs but i'm sure one of the members here will point you in the right direction.
