CLOMP is on a distinguished road
Hello

Hello my name is ANT, I am from Ironbridge but now live in staffordshire, I hae been fishing since the late 50s, a bit of a strange fisherman realy, I will not use a pole or a bite buzzer, I am not a carp man but catch quite a lot of carp, TENCH are my bogey fish I have only caught a few, a quick silly story,, in the early 70s a bloke came to me in the pub at TELFORD, and asked if I could help him catch a Barbel, knowing the river severn was heavily match fished I got a day ticket from the meadow in which was the pub by the railway bridge at Buildwas (near the power station) the pub owned three pegs, so on the Sunday morning my new fishing buddy and I wet our lines in the severn, I soon caught three small barbel, but mate drew a blank, so I let him fish my peg, within minutes he was into a fish, I could not belive my eyes it was a Tench about 5 lb, I had fished there many many times and only got chub and small barbel, but to make matters worse he then caught another one, I felt like pushing him in ,, THATS how lucky I am with TENCH, But one of the few Tench I have caught was 7lb, I have just joined Hanchurch fisheries, they claim to have a good head of Tench there, Sorry to have bored you, good luck, rgds ANT.

thanks mate, from the late 50s until 1981 when I left TELFORD,I spent every minute I could on the severn, some great memories, and some sad ones, and will tell a couple more stories of strange things on the Severn, when I have settled in to the forum, rgds ANT.

Re: Hello

hi CLOMP
You sound like a bit of an "old time" fisherman, preferring not to keep up with all of the latest inovations and methods.
You are NOT alone, but I do like carbon fibre rods..
Welcome to the forum, anecdotes will go down well.

YES I like carbon fibre rods, I was using one today with my centre pin, I am not realy an "old time" fisherman, but "buzzers" I have been with a mate a few times "beep beep strike" yes we caught good fish but I got nothing out of landing a 15lb carp on a two and three quarter TC rod with 15lb line as the fish had realy caught its self, and poles, I know poles catch fish but a another mate set me up with one a heavy duty one for carp,, and I caught a lot more fish than I would have with my rod, but it did nothing for me, NOW if I was a MATHCMAN,,,,,,,,,,
