Talking New here.

Greetings.

Am aiming to re-start my beach fishing, and am on a very low budget. I have rods and gear lined up, but am getting very confused with all the rigs, lures, baits and jargon used, The last time I fished a beach was 20 years ago!

Our local beach is Lowestoft (still in Suffolk) and is good for cod, whiting, and bass (i've heard).

what's the best rig and bait/lures to use?

cheers, all help gratefully received.

Re: New here.

on the beach for cod whiting and bass i would use a two or 3 hook flapper rig with a 5- 6 ounce gripper wieght. use ragworm and limpet cocktail bait, if you cant get hold of any limpet dont worry there not vital

Re: New here.

cheers for the info. Anything else I need to know - best time/tide? hook size? I am collecting as much info as I can from various sources, I have vague memories of my previous experiences on the beach, but there is so much to re-learn!
Any and all advice gratefully received.
cheers

Re: New here.

i normally use size 2 bait holder hooks they work well for me high tide works best but i've had a 12 pound cod at low tide so it doesn't bother me but you will catch more fish at high tide, hope it helps
