| Backpacking, Bushcraft and Fishing Hi folks, I've dabbled over the years with game fishing, and now find it too expensive where I am, so now I want to combine my outdoor interests, of coastal walking, camping and occasional fishing, out of a small rusksack. As much as I enjoy the 'sport' I want the added pleasures of it supplimenting my diet, the fresher the better. So I'm joining this forum, which I've found today, to seek advice on the ideal (if there is such a thing) compact kit to take in my bag. So any help appreciated really. There's so much on the market it confuses me. A general rod (and kit) I guess I can use for pier, beach, and estuary fishing, keeping it simple, is what I'm after if such a thing exhists. My first spot to try will be Pembrokeshire, and I've already read some of the comments on here which is great. All the best Bob |

| Re: Backpacking, Bushcraft and Fishing Welcome to the forum Bob. It may be worth sticking a post on the welsh section to find more specific information on Pembrokeshire for the time of year you are planning to go. Your target venues will probably be rocky (if you like camping, you probably won't like Tourist beaches like tenby? saundersfoot) and off the beaten track, so that should influence your choice of tackle. You may also prefer lure fishing to beachcasting, again 1 rod probably wont suffice for both. Looking forward to any catch reports you can put up. . . nothing like a good yaaarn. ![]() __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |
